The principle means of communicating important goings on in Westwood seems to be these sandwich boards that are placed at strategic locations around town. When I am walking around my neighborhood, or if I happened to live across the street from one of the locations, perhaps it would be effective. But usually, I have to stop the car to try and read what is written on the sign in such small print that no one can possibly notice it as they ride by at even moderate speeds.
I stopped to take a closer look at this sign and discovered there is a website for Westwood Little League baseball where you can register your kids online DEADLINE IS JANUARY 18.
The website is actually a templatized product of League Athletics.com, LLC, a Norwalk, CT company that provides organizations all over the country with the tools to quickly set up pretty professional looking websites for less than $500/year. I would say it's worth it because it must make life a lot easier for busy parents and it puts all the relevent information in one place. This is the kind of thing I'd like to promote from this blog--I know how much work is involved in creating a website, but that's just the beginning--you have to get people to find it and use it for it to be worthwhile.
