Dedham-Westwood Water District Expands Water Conservation Rebate Program
Dedham-Westwood Water District will pay you to save water. Replace your traditional washing machine with a newer, water efficient model, and you will receive a $100 rebate. Replace your old toilet with a new High Efficiency model and you will receive a $75 rebate. We are also continuing to offer the $50 incentive to replace an old toilet with a new 1.6 gallon per flush model.
The Dedham Westwood Water District is offering this rebate program to entice its residential customers to save water wherever possible.
All front-loading washing machine models are eligible for the rebate. Some top-loading washing machines are designed to save water and are eligible for the rebate. To determine if your new top load model is water efficient, look up its Water Factor on the Energy Star website: www.energystar.gov . Clothes washers that have a water factor of 6.0 or less are water saving washers and qualify for the $100 rebate. Rebate applications are available at the water district office, 50 Elm Street, Dedham, in the newsletter and online at www.dwwd.org. To get your rebate check, mail in an application form along with a copy of your store receipt. We may schedule a service call at your home to verify the washing machine or toilet qualifies. Eligible Machines must have been purchased after September 12, 2006.
All toilets sold in the United States must use 1.6 gallons per flush or less. High Efficiency Toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush or less. High Efficiency Toilets can be purchased at your local home improvement or plumbing supply store. Many models are as inexpensive as the standard toilet. Look for the EPA's WaterSense Label. All WaterSense toilets are eligible for the $75 rebate. For more details or assistance with WaterSense labeled toilets, check out the EPA's WaterSense web site http://www.epa.gov/watersense
